Which website translation tool should you choose?

Pick by where your translations should live and what you will pay at your real size. A hosted translation layer (ConveyThis, Weglot, Localize, Linguise, Bablic) works on any website and bills by words, page views or languages. A WordPress plugin (WPML, TranslatePress, Polylang) keeps translations inside WordPress and bills a yearly licence. A platform's own tool (Shopify Translate & Adapt, Webflow Localization) is the simplest option if you never leave that platform. GTranslate is the cheapest way to show many languages when raw machine translation is good enough.

What is the best alternative to ConveyThis?

It depends on the job. If you want another hosted website translation layer, Weglot is the closest like-for-like option. If you want translations stored inside WordPress, look at WPML, TranslatePress or Polylang. GTranslate gives you many languages at the lowest price, and for software and app localisation a translation management system such as Lokalise is the better fit.

Which website translation tool is cheapest?

On the pages we checked on September 27, 2026, the lowest paid entry prices were Webflow Localize Essential from $9 a month (Webflow sites only, priced by locale), GTranslate Custom and ConveyThis Starter at $12 a month, and Linguise Start at $15. Shopify Translate & Adapt is free for Shopify stores. The cheapest tool for your site depends on its word count and number of languages, which is why the table shows limits next to prices.

Do these tools handle hreflang and multilingual SEO?

Most paid plans do: each language gets its own URL (subfolder, subdomain or domain) with hreflang. The exceptions are browser-only widgets such as GTranslate's free version and the Google Translate widget, which do not create separate URLs for search engines to index.

Can I move my translations when I switch tools?

Usually, yes. ConveyThis imports CSV and TMX files on every plan, including Free, and has a converter for Weglot CSV exports. Check what your current tool lets you export first: Weglot, for example, limits export to its Advanced and higher plans.
