A Volusion storefront is built from one theme template, template_xx.html, which you open from Design → File Editor. Pasting the ConveyThis snippet just above its closing </head> tag loads the widget on every page, where it translates product copy, categories, navigation and articles and adds a language switcher.

Your Volusion catalog is not duplicated: translations are kept in your ConveyThis account. There you correct them in the visual editor, swap a product photo for one language, and decide whether first-time visitors should be sent to their browser language. Separate language sub-domains with hreflang tags are included from the Business plan.

Integrate ConveyThis with your Volusion store by following these simple steps:

Create ConveyThis Account

Create a ConveyThis account here. Your ConveyThis account dashboard lets you view and manage all your translations.

Configure Your Integration

Select JavaScript as your website technology. Enter your Volusion domain name and indicate the languages you want to translate your store into. Click "Next" to proceed through the setup steps.

Copy and Install JavaScript Code

Copy the ConveyThis JavaScript code from your dashboard (replace YOUR_API_KEY with your actual key). Paste it into your Volusion template's <head> section before the closing </head> tag. See detailed JavaScript integration guide.

Manage and Optimize

Visit your store to see the language switcher appear (may take a few minutes). Manage translations via dashboard, set up Glossary for product terms, configure auto-redirection, optimize multilingual SEO, and explore advanced translation features.

Volusion store translation: common questions

Where does the ConveyThis snippet go in Volusion?

After you create a ConveyThis account and pick your languages, copy the snippet. In your Volusion admin open Design → File Editor, click the template_xx.html shortcut, find the </head> tag near the top and paste the code directly above it, then save. Volusion advises copying the template into a text file before any edit so you can restore it. Our snippet guide shows where to find the code.

What happens if I switch to another Volusion theme?

The template file is named after the theme in use, so a new theme brings a new template_xx.html without your snippet. Paste the code into the new file and save. Your translations are unaffected, because they are stored in ConveyThis rather than in the theme.

Can I show a different product image to shoppers in another language?

Yes. In the ConveyThis dashboard open Settings, click Show more options and turn on Translate Media. Then, in the visual editor, click the pen icon on the image and enter the address of the replacement file, ideally the same size as the original. Useful for packaging, banners or sizing charts with text baked in. Details are in translating images and media.

Can shoppers land in their own language automatically?

You can switch on auto-redirect under Settings → Show more options. It reads the language set in the visitor's browser, not their IP address, so a Spanish-speaking shopper in the US still gets Spanish. Shoppers can change language at any time with the switcher. See visitor redirection.

Which URL setup should a Volusion store choose?

Without any DNS work, translations are shown on your existing addresses. For search visibility per language, the Business plan and higher unlock sub-domains such as fr.yourstore.com: one CNAME record each, while the store itself stays on Volusion hosting. A /fr/ folder setup is possible too, yet it routes your entire domain through ConveyThis, which is why our URL structure guide recommends sub-domains. Hreflang is added in both cases.
