How ConveyThis works on Magento and Adobe Commerce

Adobe renamed the paid edition of Magento to Adobe Commerce in 2021, and the free edition is still called Magento Open Source. Create a ConveyThis account here. Your ConveyThis account dashboard lets you view and manage all your translations.

Configure Your Integration

Select JavaScript as your website technology. Enter your Magento domain name and indicate the languages you want to translate your store into. Click "Next" to proceed through the setup steps.

Install JavaScript Code

Copy the JavaScript code from your ConveyThis dashboard and paste it into your Magento theme section before. This can be done through your theme files or Magento admin panel custom code settings.

Optimize Your Store

Visit your store to see the language switcher appear (may take a few minutes). Manage your translations through the ConveyThis dashboard, set up Glossary for product terms, configure URL structure, set up auto-redirection, and explore advanced e-commerce features.

Magento and Adobe Commerce translation: common questions

Does ConveyThis work with Adobe Commerce as well as Magento Open Source?

Yes. ConveyThis is a JavaScript snippet in the storefront head, so it does not depend on your edition or on where the store is hosted, whether Adobe Commerce on cloud infrastructure, on-premises, or a self-hosted Magento Open Source install. There is no Magento extension to install, so Magento upgrades do not wait on a ConveyThis module update.

Where exactly do I add the snippet in the Magento admin?

Create a ConveyThis account, choose Magento, and add your domain and languages to get the snippet. In the admin go to Content → Design → Configuration, click Edit on the store view you want translated, expand HTML Head under Other Settings, paste the code into Scripts and Style Sheets and save. Refresh the Magento cache if the admin asks you to. The Magento setup guide shows the dashboard steps.

Do I still need a separate store view for each language?

Not for ConveyThis. Magento's own method adds a store view per locale, and shoppers move between them with the language chooser in the header. With ConveyThis, a single store view in your original language is enough: the widget adds its switcher and shows each translation in place, and you correct wording in the visual editor rather than maintaining a copy of the catalog per language.

My Magento checkout stays in the original language. Why?

A common cause is Magento's Content Security Policy. Adobe's documentation says JavaScript entered in Scripts and Style Sheets must be whitelisted in the CSP settings, otherwise it does not run on the checkout pages. Ask your developer to whitelist the ConveyThis script, then walk through the cart and checkout in each language to confirm it loads.

I run several Magento websites on different domains. Is one ConveyThis account enough?

Yes. Each domain counts as one website: Free, Starter and Business cover one, Pro covers three, Pro+ five and Optimum ten. The word allowance is shared across all websites in the account, while languages are chosen per site. See using ConveyThis on several websites.
