How ConveyThis works on Salesforce

ConveyThis translates Salesforce Experience Cloud sites, meaning the customer portals, partner portals, help centers and storefronts you build in Experience Builder. It does not translate the Lightning Experience screens your own staff use. The snippet goes into Settings → Advanced → Edit Head Markup, and the site is then published.

Experience Cloud sites run under a Content Security Policy, so the ConveyThis domains may have to be added to Trusted Sites for Scripts before the switcher can load. After that, the text your site displays is translated with AI, and you review it in the ConveyThis dashboard rather than in each component.

Integrate ConveyThis with your Salesforce by following these simple steps:

Create ConveyThis Account

Create a ConveyThis account here. Your ConveyThis account dashboard lets you view and manage all your translations.

Configure Your Integration

Select JavaScript as your website technology. Enter your Salesforce domain name and indicate the languages you want to translate your website into. Click "Next" to proceed through the setup steps.

Copy and Install JavaScript Code

Copy the JavaScript code snippet with your API key from the ConveyThis dashboard. Paste it into your Salesforce site's <head> section before the </head> tag. See detailed installation guide.

Test and Optimize

Visit your Salesforce site to see the language switcher appear (may take a few minutes). Manage translations via the dashboard, set up Glossary for CRM terminology, and manage translation quality.

Salesforce Experience Cloud translation: common questions

Which Salesforce product does ConveyThis work with?

Experience Cloud: the sites you create under Setup → Digital Experiences → All Sites and edit in Experience Builder. That covers self-service portals, partner sites, help centers and Experience Builder storefronts. The internal Salesforce interface your employees log in to is not a website visitors browse, so ConveyThis is not used there.

How do I add ConveyThis to an Experience Cloud site?

In Setup, go to Digital Experiences → All Sites and click Builder next to your site. In Experience Builder open Settings → Advanced, click Edit Head Markup, paste the ConveyThis snippet and save. Then publish the site, because head markup changes reach visitors only after a publish. The Salesforce setup guide shows the Advanced screen.

I pasted the snippet but no language switcher appears. Why?

The site's security level is probably blocking an outside script. In Experience Builder open Settings → Security & Privacy, choose a security level that allows trusted third-party hosts, and add https://*.conveythis.com under Trusted Sites for Scripts. Publish again and reload the live site. Salesforce strips head markup it considers invalid, so paste the snippet exactly as ConveyThis gives it to you.

How does this compare with Experience Builder's own language settings?

Experience Builder lets you add languages to a site, then enter translated text in each component's properties or export the site content as an XML file for a translator and import it back. ConveyThis translates what the published site actually displays, automatically, so a new page or component needs no export round. You correct wording in a visual editor and lock product names in a glossary.

Can translated portal pages get their own language URLs?

Language sub-domains need a custom domain for the site whose DNS you control; a default Salesforce-provided site address is not enough. With your own domain and the Business plan or higher, you add one CNAME record per language for the portal's hostname. Otherwise use the default mode or a language parameter in the URL.
