Instapage landing page translation: common questions

Will every A/B test variation be translated?

Yes, if you put the snippet in the page's Scripts & Privacy section: Instapage applies scripts there to all variations of the experience. Code pasted into the builder's JavaScript panel belongs to one variation only, so a variation you add later would come up untranslated. Each variation has its own copy, so each variation's text is translated separately, and you can review the wording of variation B without touching variation A.

I use Instapage privacy compliance. Will the switcher still appear?

When privacy compliance is on, Instapage fires the scripts in the Scripts & Privacy section only after a visitor accepts, so the language switcher and the translations wait for that consent. If your pages have no variations, you can paste the snippet into the Header field of the JavaScript panel in the builder instead. Either way, publish the page and test on the live URL, because Instapage does not run custom code in the editor or in preview.

How is this different from translating pages with Instapage's Collections AI Assistant?

The Collections AI Assistant generates a new page for each language from placeholders, and you publish and maintain each of those pages yourself. Text that you did not set up as a placeholder is left out. ConveyThis keeps one page: when you change a headline or add a section, the change reaches every language the next time the page loads, and brand names stay fixed through your glossary.

Can I send a French ad to the French version of my landing page?

Yes. Choose a URL structure that gives each language its own address: a language parameter in the URL, or a language sub-domain on the Business plan or higher. Sub-domains need a page published on your own custom domain, whose DNS you control; a pagedemo.co test address will not work for this. The URL structure guide explains each option, and you can also redirect visitors to their browser language automatically.

Do I have to paste the snippet into every landing page?

Not necessarily. On the Instapage subscriptions that include Workspace Scripts (Assets → Scripts), you can apply the snippet to all past and future pages in a workspace at once. On the ConveyThis side, each domain you publish to counts as one website: Free, Starter and Business cover one, and Pro covers three. See using ConveyThis on several websites.
